Autism Insurance Legislation has been heating up all over the map

• Michigan's insurance bills just passed their State House and now proceed to the Senate side.

• New Jersey is a signature away from becoming the 14th state to mandate behavioral treatment of autism

• Wisconsin has just passed its budget bill also mandating behavioral therapy for autism--the details are to be worked out in regulation. Signature would make the total states mandating coverage to 15.

• An amendment in a U.S. House Military Budget Bill just passed in the House side of the US Congress would expand mandated coverage of Autism Spectrum Disorders for military dependents by TRICARE. This would still require approval in the U.S. Senate.

NEWS: U.S. Senate Bill 1169 introduced to expand autism treatment coverage under TRICARE

"On June 3, 2009 S. 1169 was introduced by Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand (NY), as the Senate-side companion resolution to the previously introduced H.R. 1600. Both bills would "amend title 10, United States Code, to provide for the treatment of autism under TRICARE..."
